Project summary

Our aim is to restock reef fish in regions subject to heavy human pressure . To do this, we want to release new individuals from the post larval capture and culture (P.C.C.) method. This method encourages fish biodiversity. We also want to develop urbanised marine areas to restore fish habitats.

Fish on the reefs in urban areas are suffering from the disappearance of their environment. Major coastal development projects and climate change have damaged many reefs. In addition, increased fishing in the region is impacting reef fish populations.

Restocking the reefs means preserving a major food resource in the resource for future generations. We need to safeguard these riches today, by restoring damaged reefs and learning to coexist with this environment.

Our partner Ecocean is providing us with his expertise in identifying fishing sites and fish species. More generally, he is providing us with his experience in this field. We would like to thank him for his commitment.

How can reefs be repopulated?

We use the « Post larvae Capture and Culture » (P.C.C.) method.

This method consists of capturingfish post larvae at sea. Then, rearing them in a controlled environment protected from predators.
After a few weeks, the juveniles obtained can be released in areas that aresuitable for their development.
